Feeling a little guilty about the rice because I’m not supposed to have it on the SCD but since I’m technically only excluding flour from my diet right now I’m trying to give myself a break.

Grilled chicken salad with salsa

My willpower was tested today. First I ended up having to eat lunch from the deli in our building which is not the healthiest choice. I managed to eat Chinese food without the low mein noodles or rice….just chicken and veggies.

Then I took my mom a pizza. It smelled so good but I didn’t eat any.

The ultimate challenge was eating dinner at a Mexican restaurant. I didn’t eat any chips and had a chicken salad with all legal ingredients.

Feel good about my decisions.

Flour Free

The SCD is so restrictive and I am having a really difficult time staying on it. This time I am going to implement the diet in phases. First, I am going to focus on eliminating flour. I had gotten into the habit of eating chips, pasta, bread and some fried food again. I also have not been feeling well.

After I eliminate flour, I’ll focus on the next step, maybe eliminating potatoes or rice. I try not to eat too much of that now but I love sweet potato fries.

I truly need to learn to eat to live. Changing my lifestyle is so hard and frustrating.

Sunday

Yesterday morning was a beautiful morning. My husband and I went for a long walk before breakfast. It was really nice to get out and get moving. Last night we worked in a little more movement when the entire family went to hit golf balls. My back is a little sore from swinging the golf club but that’s a good thing.

Your Body: A priceless gift from God (Food, Fitness and Faith for Women)

Do you not know that your body is a sanctuary of the Holy Spirit who is in you, who you have from God? You are not your own, for you were bought at a price; therefore glorify God in your body.

1 Corinthians 6:19-20 HCSB

Dahn Yoga

I took an introductory session at Dahn Yoga. The center focuses on Flexibility and Balance, Breathing Patterns,
Back, Neck and Shoulder Condition
Stress Levels, Mind-Body Coordination and More. The session was a one on one session to determine how well my body is functioning in the areas above.

The leader was able to feel the stress in my back, neck and shoulders, especially the right side. She stated that the relaxed person breathes in an out (one cycle) about five times a minute and average is under ten breathing cycles per minute. I had 14 breathing cycles per minute which is attributed to my stress.

She also performed a digestive massage and said she could feel the tension in my intestines. The massage actually stirred up some pain in my gut but was also relaxing in a strange way. She told me she would send energy through my body. I was skeptical but after the digestive massage, she laid her hands on my abdomen and I felt this surge of feeling through me. It was weird.

I like the center and think it would be good for digestive healing and stress relieve. I’m not sure that it had the fitness aspects that I am looking for in a class.

The Dahn Yoga center is still up for consideration but first I am going to try hot yoga at Sun Touch Yoga.

Kale Chips

Finally made Kale chips last night. Just made a small batch to see if we would like them. The boys liked them and have asked me to make more. Super easy to do. Kale is on the list of super foods so I will be trying to work them into our meals. Glad the chips were a success.

Food, Fitness and Faith

I have started a 365 Day Journal titled “Food, Fitness and Faith for Women”. I’m excited to turn my struggles with food and fitness over to my savior and build my faith along the way. I’m searching for peace and balance in my life and I believe this daily reflection will help me.

A prudent person foresees the danger ahead and takes precautions. The simpleton goes blindly on and suffers the consequences. Proverbs 27:12
